Rick Gabrielsen — President / CEOPassionate involvement and infinite horizons are what defines Rick Gabrielsen — be it as an industry leader admired by his peers for a reputation of peak performance, a trusted advisor and loyal business partner, or a compassionate community volunteer. With 30 years experience in hospitality management for a variety of corporate, independent and bank owned hotels, he is one of the foremost experts in asset management and operations of boutique hotels and limited service properties. Prior to forming Kupuna Hospitality, Rick held the position of Area Vice President for Hilton Worldwide, managing company-owned and or managed brands of Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites and Embassy Suites hotels in the Mountain — West region and Mexico. He has opened 12 hotels and has transitioned 15 new hotels in the past ten years, and was responsible for a combined portfolio of 60 locations, with consistent recognition for team results in RevPAR, IBFC growth, Guest Service and Team Member Loyalty.
Rafiq Sabir — Vice President of FinancePrior to joining Kupuna Hospitality LLC as Vice President of Finance, Rafiq Sabir held positions within the Hotel Finance Group at Hilton Worldwide at the Memphis Operations Center. During his six years there, Rafiq was responsible for the accounting of hotel portfolio containing eight to twelve hotels with annual revenues in excess of $25 million. Rafiq was also an integral part of a special task force team that expanded the accounting operations into Mexico with the successful opening of two hotels. In addition, while with the Hotel Finance Group, Rafiq served as a primary hotel finance liaison to various ownership groups. Rafiq received his hotel operations experience after completing an extensive HHMDP (Hilton Hotels Management Development Program) rotation and training at three hotels in Memphis. During this program Rafiq assumed full departmental management responsibilities under the tutelage of hotel general managers. Rafiq completed his undergraduate studies in Finance at Howard University, Washington DC with cum laude honors and completed his Masters of Business Administration, with concentration in International Business at Fogelman College of Business, University of Memphis, where he was recognized with magna cum laude honors.
Jason Olivares — General Manager / Operations TrainerJason joined Kupuna Hospitality LLC in 2010; prior to joining our family he worked for Hilton Worldwide for the past six years. In his time with Hilton Worldwide, he held the leadership positions of Executive Housekeeper, Assistant General Manager and General Manager for the brands of Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton. Jason successfully completed the Best of the West – General Manager Orientation Training Program in 2008.In addition to these roles; Jason also was instrumental in providing support to hotels within California and Mexico. Prior to joining Hilton Worldwide in 1994, Jason worked in Food & Beverage, Sales, Finance and the Mortgage Industry. Jason enjoys spending time with his family and helping his local communities. Jason and his wife Elizabeth are the proud parents of two children Paulina and Jose. They spend as much time as possible volunteering at their children’s school through the PTA, School Site Council Committee and volunteering in the classrooms. In addition to the schools, Jason volunteers at Habitat for Humanity, Rotary Clubs, Boys and Girls club, 4-H and the First Tee program. ADVISORY COUNCIL
