Kupuna Hospitality is pleased to announce that we have acquired management of the Homewood Suites by Hilton Denver - Littleton effective February 1, 2012. We welcome Jeanette , Lauri, Gabriella and the entire team to our hospitality family and look forward to much success!

The Homewood Suites by Hilton® Oakland-Waterfront’s ownership and operating team are committed to support a sustainable and socially responsible environment for our team members to work in and our guests to stay in.

Sustainability Practices:
*Energy Star equipment in use and Energy Star Certified
*Recycle of paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and aluminum as part of First Stream Recycling in all areas of the hotel.
*Our recycling Brown bag for product separation is in each suite for “A Better Future. A Better Now”
*Electronic thermostats in guestrooms with pre-set settings to minimize energy consumption
*Energy efficient CFL lighting in all guest rooms and in hotel’s public spaces
*Recycle of used print cartridges back to manufacturer
*Lighting/computers/equipment in all area turned off when not in use
*Use of Post Consumer Content for office supplies
*Colored copy/printing paper is minimum 30% Post Consumer Content
*White copy/printing paper is minimum 30% Post Consumer Content
*Copy and printing paper is FSC Certified and set to a double-sided copy default
*Use of email instead of paper for communication and documentation
*All administrative areas has paper recycling program
*All public areas of the hotel participate in the Single Stream Recycling program
*Recycling program for light bulb ballasts, light bulbs and batteries is in place
*Bed linens changed upon guest request to aid in water and energy conservation efforts
*Towels replaced upon guest request allowing guests the option of re-using existing towels
*All detergent products meet or exceed EPA GS-37 Industrial Cleaner guidelines
*1.6 gallon per flush toilets installed in all rooms and guest areas
*Low flow faucet aerators installed throughout the building and in all guest rooms.
*Pest control company held to use of IPM integrated products on property
*Replacement of all furniture, fixtures and equipment are supplied to Green organizations with sustainability and reuse efforts in mind.
*Newspaper delivery to each suite is optional at guest request.

Results:
*Waste Pick up has been reduced by 46.76 Annual MSW tons over prior year from landfill
*Recycling pick up has been reduced by 10.39 annual recycling tons this year over prior year.
*Organics pickup has been reduced by 31.18 annual Organics tons this year over prior year.
*Replaced bottle water with Green Planet Petroleum Free bottles made of 100% Corn Paper.
*Team members supplied us with their old batteries for proper disposal and we provided 448 new batteries as replacements
*Team members brought their incandescent bulbs from home and we replaced each with a 100 watt replacement bulb using only 23 watts. 266 have been replaced thus far.
*Serve Organic wine at our evening Managers Reception

Congratulations to Rudy for being recognized as our outstanding team member for the 4th Quarter 2011, at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Oakland - Waterfront. A few comments from guests and team members about him are: "a team player, very dependable, consistent, always positive, a problem solver and so supportive". Away from the hotel, he spends all of his free time with his grandchildren who enjoy shooting hoops at the basketball courts close to home.
